Brilliant Bayern breeze by bullied Barcelona. Thomas Muller is the focal point of Bayern Munich's impressive display as they crush the once formidable Barcelona.
Bayern Munich are the first team ever to score 8 goals in a Champions League knock out match as they defeat a limp Barcelona. Early signs of a thorough battering showed when Thomas Muller scored the opener in the 4th minute but Bayern's celebrations were spoilt by an own goal just three minutes later by David Alaba. The floodgates soon opened for Bayern Munich with Ivan Perisic (22'), Serge Gnabry (28') and Thomas Muller again (31') all bagging before the half time whistle blew.
"The club needs changes and I’m not talking about the coach or any one player. The club needs profound change. We have hit rock bottom. We need to reflect and do what is best for the club... I will be the first to offer to go if we need new blood." - Gerrard Pique
Quite Setien attempted to change the fortune of the game by bringing on Antoinne Griezmann at half time. It initially looked to be the right time for a change as Luis Suarez made it 4-2 in the 57th minute. Barcelona's dreams of a famous comeback were quickly extinguished by another 4 Bayern Munich goals, including a brace from Barcelona loanee Philippe Coutinho.
Could this see the end to Setien's short stint at the Catalan giants?
Many people are now expecting Setien to be vacated of the Barcelona job due to their awful form after returning to football after the season was broken up by COVID-19. As football returned, Barcelona were comfortably sat on top of the La Liga table yet after a devastating crumble, Real Madrid won the league by 5 points.
Many people are reporting Setien to be sacked very soon with some reporting that ex Barcelona and Dutch international (and manager), Ronald Koeman will be taking over.
