RB Leipzig's meteoric rise to success haltered by the French Champions, who reach their first ever Champions League Final.

After a fantastic, and very comfortable, performance from PSG they've rightfully earned a place in the club's first ever Champions League final. Marquinhos replicated his goal from the previous round with a headed effort nestling in the top right hand corner after 13 minutes, the first time he's scored in back-to-back games since his first two appearances in 2013.

We ate them up from minute one... We're very happy. It's a first for the club. We worked hard and played a great game. We want to make history for the club. We succeeded tonight and we're in the final – that's very important. We have to continue like tonight to make our dream come true.” - Angel Di Maria

Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the PSG owner, will be more than relieved to see the successes of his investment reach outside the French borders. Since his takeover in 2011, the ruler of Qatar has seen his money bring, almost, complete dominance in France yet their success has never transferred into European trophies. This was PSG's 110th game in the Champions League, meaning they have played the most games before reaching their first final. they've taken the title off Arsenal who had 90 appearances between 1971-2006.

PSG fly through to the finals

Following Marquinhos' opening goal in the 13th minute, Di Maria killed the game for PSG after a beautiful piece of skill from Neymar to set the ball for the Argentine forward to cooly slot past Gulasci. Following an unfortunate night in goal last time out, against Atalanta, Neymar looked desperate to find the back of the net. Neymar threw himself at the ball in order to put the ball in the back of the net; unfortunately for Neymar, by the time he made contact with the ball Juan Bernat's effort had already crossed the line.

My man of the match has to go to Angel Di Maria, his goal and influence was vital to the Parisians reaching their first ever final. His goal came at the perfect time for PSG as it killed the little momentum that Leipzig had. Since his Champions League debut, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo (both on 32) have provided more assists than Di Maria, who currently sits on 27.
